A contemporary indie-folk artist whose star is definitely on the rise, Bess Atwell’s most recent release Light Sleeper was produced by The National’s Dessner. The deeply personal album “embraces life in all its complications” (The Guardian), with themes revolving around Atwell’s experience of coming off anti-depressants in order to “wake up and feel everything”, and her struggles growing up in an eclectic and creative family. It is another poetic and poignant work from the understated and quietly brilliant singer, whose angelic voice and ability to capture universal feelings in her songs has forged magical connections with audiences across the world. A commanding presence on stage, Atwell has performed at UK festivals such as The Great Escape Festival in her hometown of Brighton, as well as SXSW in Texas. In 2023 she supported Ed Sheeran at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
