Born and raised in Bogotá, Ela Minus is a singer, songwriter, producer and performer. After studying jazz drums and music synthesis at Berklee College of Music in Boston, she went on to test, assemble and design synthesisers. Her critically-acclaimed debut album Acts of Rebellion was one of the albums of the pandemic, with Pitchfork saying it revealed “her capacity to create gritty, layered textures, to claim her voice as powerful, and to conjure immersive inner worlds, all while reminding us to dance”. Ela has performed at Coachella, Primavera Sound and Estereo Picnic; for fashion houses such as Chanel, Miu Miu and Prada; and completed a month-long BBC Radio 1 Residency. Her latest single, Combat presents a theme of strength and defiant energy. Renowned for her work with analog machines in the electronic realm, Combat features a quartet of woodwinds, marking the first time she has written and recorded with acoustic instruments.
