Founded in 2008 by Jack Kanya Kudnuitya Buckskin, a proud Kaurna and Narungga Man, Kuma Kaaru has grown into a community of 12 staff, passionate about sharing their incredible culture. Kuma Kaaru aims to educate and teach Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal People of the local language and culture to showcase the diversity of Aboriginal nations. Working with all kinds of organisations, from schools to the SA Music Awards and Sydney Swans, their family works to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal People and the wider community. Kuma Kaaru’s goal is to empower young people to relearn their language and culture. They want their young people to be proud of their history and to educate others, becoming an inspiration to older generations. Kuma Kaaru has performed locally and internationally, in places such as Samoa, India, Vienna, Canada, France, USA, Malaysia, China and Nauru. At WOMADelaide, Jack will be joined on stage by his daughter, Mahleaha.
