These five female master musicians celebrate goddesses and ancient tales from their diverse cultures through their instrumental and vocal improvisations. Using Taonga Pūoro (Maori singing treasures), bass clarinet, harmonic flutes, cello, Nyckelharpa (Nordic fiddle), prepared piano, drums and voices, The Cloud Maker harnesses the power of archetypal stories to transport listeners across time and space. Inspired by the bravery, sensuality, power and compassion of female mythological figures, the group improvises within a suite of refined sonic worlds to create music that echoes the themes of creation and transformation. The Cloud Maker was winner of Performance of the Year at the 2023 APRA AMCOS Art Music Award and finalist for the 2023 Music Victoria Diaspora Award.
