The WOMADelaide Foundation respects and values your privacy and we are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy outlines how we may collect, use or distribute the data that you share with us when you visit our website, www.womadelaide.com.au .
This policy has been provided with users in mind, and your choices and rights are explained below. We recommend that customers of WOMADelaide also read our website and ticketing terms & conditions. For reference, where we decide the purpose or means for the processing of the personal data that you provide via our website, we are in legal terms the “data controller”. As data controller, we will comply with all applicable data protection laws.
We sometimes employ other companies to perform business functions on our behalf, including but not limited to website development and maintenance, marketing, and ticket sales. These third party “data processors” will be provided access to the information we collect, if it is needed to perform their functions, but they may not use it for any other purposes, and they are obliged to ensure they handle personal data in accordance Australia’s Privacy legislative requirements.

What kind of information WOMADelaide collects
We collect, process and store personal information about you when you buy tickets, when you contact us, use our website, use our mobile apps, or interact with us on social media platforms including, but not limited to, Meta and Spotify.
This information may include your name, email address, telephone number(s), payment information, IP address, or location. We may also collect information about the browser you’re using, what directed you to our website, and what you did or didn’t use our website for.
Why does WOMADelaide store my data?
Among other things, collecting and using your information helps us contact you about the products and services we offer. We can use this information to determine what you might be interested in, and make sure our messages and website are relevant to you. It means we can tell you about the artists we program and we can notify you of any updates or changes to our event. We might also use your information to respond to enquiries, process payment for tickets, to stay in touch or to tell you about work and volunteer opportunities at WOMADelaide. This data processing is critical to the operation of our business and we collate this information in the pursuit of legitimate business interests of improving the experience and information we provide to customers.

How does WOMADelaide use my data?

- Fulfil our obligation to customers through purchases; so that we can prepare your order, process payment and provide you with customer support.
- Stay up to date and relevant in our business interests: to help us improve and customise our products and services, for our marketing purposes, to conduct research and analysis of consumer behaviour and to send you customer service emails including booking confirmations and event reminders.
- Detect and prevent unlawful behaviour: to ensure tickets remain in the hands of real fans rather than ticket scalpers, to prevent misuse of intellectual property, fraud, or other crimes.
- Communicate marketing materials to current customers about upcoming events, as well as communicating important information required to attend our events to customers. Customers are able to unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time via the links in the footer of our newsletters.
Email marketing:
If you’ve signed-up to receive emails from WOMADelaide, we’ll use the email address you have provided us with to contact you. These emails may include information about our program, our partners, special offers, news, blog content, or other information relevant to WOMADelaide.
It may also include information from third parties where we think this information is relevant to you. We may use information you’ve provided us – such as your location – or information based on your website behaviour or purchase history to decide what emails may be most relevant to you.
You can stop receiving email marketing at any time, by either clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link found in the footer of every email or contacting us at info@womadelaide.com.au.
If you unsubscribe, we won’t contact you with email marketing again, unless you ask us to!
Email marketing is separate to non-promotional emails regarding events which you may be attending – either ticketed or not – which constitute required information which cannot be opted out of. Email marketing also sits separately to other types of non-promotional emails which may be required in certain circumstances, such as post-event customer surveys.
Meta conversion tracking pixels
With user permission, our website utilises the Conversion Tracking Pixel service of Facebook Inc, 1601 S. California Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). This tool allows us to follow actions of users after they are redirected to a provider’s website by clicking on a Facebook advertisement. This enables us to record efficiency of Facebook advertisements for statistical and market research purposes. The collected data remains anonymous. This means that we cannot see the personal data of any individual user. However, the collected data is saved by Facebook. Facebook Conversion Tracking also allows Facebook and its partners to show you advertisements on and outside Facebook. In Addition, a cookie will be saved onto your computer for these purposes.

Google Analytics and Cookies
With user permission, our website utilises the online advertising and analysis products by Google LLC 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California, USA (“Google”).

Analytical Purposes
We use cookies to analyse user activity in order to improve our website. For example, we can use cookies to look at aggregate patterns of how many times people visit a production page on our website and view what they click on to gain insights that help up to understand what content on our website is interesting to our audiences.
User experience
We use cookies to gather information about users such as browser type, country setting and time spent on page to understand our site user preferences and then optimise our website to those preferences. We view this data in Google Analytics however the data does remain anonymous and cannot be purchased or accessed by Google Analytics users.
Marketing
We use cookies from Google Analytics for marketing purposes. These cookies allow us to display WOMADelaide promotional material to you on other websites you visit across the internet. We also use cookies to facilitate targeted advertising using the Google Ad Words Program. The cookies show which ads have been seen, how many times they were seen and if they were clicked on.

Who is my personal information shared with?
We do not sell, rent or trade your information with third-parties. Your information is kept confidential and is collected by a secure database.
We may disclose your information to our personnel (including personnel in our management company Arts Projects Australia) and to third-party suppliers or subcontractors (including our independent consultants, data analytics providers and cloud-based data processing and hosting providers).
If we do share your information, we will only do insofar as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, and provided that the recipients do not make independent use of the information and have agreed to adhere to the rules set out in this privacy policy.
We will not disclose personal information to a third party for a purpose that is not the purpose of collection unless:
- you would reasonably expect the agency to disclose the information for a secondary purpose which is directly related to the primary purpose of collection;
- you have expressly consented to the disclosure;
- we believe that the disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to the life, health or safety of the record-subject or of some other person;
- the disclosure is required or authorised by or under law;
If we do share your information with these third-parties, we will only share information that is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. Access to your information is restricted to persons who need it to provide benefits or services to you.

Where is my personal data stored?
The information we collect is stored in a secure PCI compliant cloud-based infrastructure that can only be accessed via Two Factor Authentication. WOMADelaide has implemented a data handling policy with all members of staff who access the personal information held in the database as well as in emails or personal information taken over the phone. This data is regularly cleaned and maintained via internal data cleaning procedures that remove duplicate records, format addresses and ensure the general quality of the data in the database.
Our technology infrastructure may make use of cloud infrastructure or servers located outside Australia however at this time, our data is stored within Australia. Apart from this, we have not/do not transfer personal information offshore.
What are my rights and choices?
You have rights over how your personal information is stored, processed and used. Among other things, you can choose whether to receive marketing from us and opt out of any of our mailing lists. You have the right to access the data we have about you and you can request that your information be erased or restricted from further use or amend and update any information you’ve provided. You will be asked to verify your identity before we will disclose or modify the personal information. We take steps to ensure that every single one of our customer’s information is completely protected and securely deleted when no longer in use.
How does WOMADelaide protect my data?
We have security measures in place to protect your information. These measures will differ depending on the way you interact with us online and what information you’ve given us. We only keep your information for as long as required to provide you with services you request, the purposes outlined in this privacy policy and for legal purposes in which we need to store data.
